How this estimate works
Standard deduction: $16,100 (Single/MFS), $24,150 (Head of Household), or $32,200 (MFJ/Qualifying Widow). If your itemized deductions are higher, those are used instead.
Federal tax: Calculated using the 2026 IRS tax brackets (10%–37%) applied to your taxable income.
Child Tax Credit: Up to $2,200 per qualifying child under 17, plus $500 per other dependent (age 17+, disabled, or elderly parent). Phases out above $200,000 AGI ($400,000 if married filing jointly). Up to $1,700 per child is refundable (Additional Child Tax Credit) if your tax is already $0.
Earned Income Credit (EIC): Estimated using 2026 IRS parameters based on your earned income, filing status, and number of qualifying children. Married Filing Separately filers generally cannot claim EIC.
Refund or balance due: Your withheld tax minus your tax after credits. A positive number is a refund; negative means you may owe.
This is a rough idea, not your real tax. It does not include child & dependent care credit, additional Medicare tax, self-employment tax, NIIT, state taxes, or other adjustments. Your actual return may differ significantly. Book a Discovery Call for a precise preparation quote.
